I currently teach CPC 514: Research Methods and Statistics. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology (research-based) and an MEd in the Psychology of Education. I also have several years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level, and am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia. I enjoy supporting students in developing their research knowledge and skills in ways that are meaningful to their future work as counsellors.
Research
My research focusses on the impacts of childhood adversity and disclosure experiences on psychosocial and psychosexual development. My doctoral work examined the complex pathways linking childhood sexual abuse, contextual adversity, and outcomes such as substance use, suicidality, and sexual shame, with attention to gender differences. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia, I study healing programs among Indigenous peoples, with particular attention to substance use, mental health, and men’s wellness. My work integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand recovery, resilience, and the development of effective, culturally-grounded support systems.

Teaching
My teaching philosophy centres on creating an open, welcoming, and collaborative learning environment where students feel encouraged to engage, ask questions, and connect theory to practice. I believe that research methods and statistics are best learned through practical application, and I aim to provide students with skills and knowledge they can confidently carry into their professional practice.
