Formerly a teacher and school principal, I have twenty years of experience as an elementary school counsellor in both public and private schools in B.C. I began my tenure at City University in October 2025, co-facilitating the internship class for the School Counselling program.
Research
The principles and applications of restorative justice are one of my passions. My MA thesis, entitled ‘Narrative Experiences of School Counsellors using ‘Conversation Peace’ a peer mediation program based in restorative justice’, was written to offer school professionals access to an age-old lens of how we might restore broken relationships within school settings without shame. ‘Conversation Peace’ is a peer mediation program co-authored by the Langley School District and CJI – Community Justice Initiatives, in Langley, B.C.
Teaching
Every person we encounter has unique skills, desires and needs. Our role as teachers and counsellors is to ‘attune’, and to create emotionally safe learning environments. It is an honour and pleasure to support teachers expanding their skills and practise into the rewarding profession of school counselling.
