Teaching Faculty
Ian Tisdale is the current principal of The BRICK Learning Centre in Ponoka Alberta. The BRICK offers alternative education to a diverse group of learners. Of the approximately 300+ students who call The BRICK home, about 170 are indigenous, about 25 are adults, and many come from lower socio-economic and high-risk living situations. We work diligently to help our students rewrite their narrative of school in order for them to find success (this year we are expecting our grad class to be in the mid-30’s).
It is my honour to be on City University’s associate faculty this summer, teaching EEA539: Supervision of Instruction. I look forward to connecting with students as we all strive to be better leaders in the process.
Research
I am highly focused on using a trauma-informed approach to guide practice in schools and staff wellness.
Teaching
My overarching philosophy is the importance of building relationships and connections to drive purpose and meaning in learning. Humour and story-telling are critical elements employed for this to be realized.
