Associate Faculty
Marie is a long-term employee of the Richmond School District, working first as a secondary classroom teacher, then as a school counsellor, and then as a school and district administrator. She retired in 2022, and currently works part-time as a school counsellor.
Research
All areas of adolescent development and experience, particularly the experiences of adolescent students in alternative education programs. Indigenous students and families are of special interest, as is the range and purpose of mental health resources within a school and community.
Teaching
Both teaching and learning require similar conditions to be effective: patience, time, relationship and humility. The best learning comes when we can make mistakes AND have guidance available to help us to improve when both teacher and student demonstrate humility – all of us are on a learning path.
